Lake Houston Outreach Supporters:
The leaders of Lake Houston Outreach, a local 501(c)(3), recognized the need for a youth leadership program in our area. Thus in 2023, we began our planning and development of the YLA, which will have its inaugural class starting in September 2024. Our YLA is a unique initiative aimed at empowering opportunity youth in our community. Our mission is to provide these young individuals with the necessary skills, knowledge, and opportunities to become future leaders. We firmly believe that every young person has the potential to make a positive impact on society, and by investing in their development, we can create a brighter future for all.
The YLA will consist of monthly meetings over a period of nine months spanning the duration of the school year. During these sessions, students will engage in interactive workshops, guest speaker presentations, team-building activities, and community service projects. By exposing them to a diverse range of experiences and perspectives, we aim to foster their leadership skills, critical thinking abilities, and social awareness.
The program is designed to be accessible to all students, regardless of their financial background. We have made it a priority to ensure that no financial barriers prevent deserving students from participating. As a result, the YLA will be offered free of charge to all attendees.
